Math is the subject Newark parents call us about most. We start with the student’s current level which is often a gap two grades behind and work our way up from there. That covers elementary arithmetic and fractions, the Algebra I-II at Newark Memorial, geometry, precalculus, and calculus.
Reading and writing support for Newark students at every stage. We will work on reading comprehension, writing in elementary school, literary analysis and essay structure in middle and high school, and college application essays for seniors. Our English tutors mark up real drafts and help our students write better by working with them through multiple drafts of their writing.
Science tutoring from middle school life science through AP Biology, Chemistry, and Physics 1. For Newark Memorial students in particular, we spend a lot of time on the math underneath the science for stoichiometry, kinematics, and unit analysis are usually where the grade is actually being lost.

Most sessions happen at the kitchen table. When home isn’t workable, we meet students at the newly renovated Newark library or a quiet café nearby such as Shibam Coffee. Weekday evenings and most hours on weekends are available seven days a week.
Sessions follow the Newark Unified pacing your child is already on, so tutoring reinforces classwork instead of competing with it.

Yes, for both in-home one-on-one classes and group classes. The assessment lets your tutor review actual school materials such as quizzes, homework, graded tests and talk with you about where your child currently stands. You'll get a recommendation on which subjects to prioritize and a clear picture of what the classes will look like before committing to anything long-term.
For weekdays we teach usually afterschool hours so after 4PM. For weekends we have availability for mornings and afternoons. Every teacher has different hours and days that they work so ultimately the scheduling availability we offer will depend on which tutor you are assigned.
